Policy

I am committed to continue making sound, long-term financial decisions while investing in infrastructure renewal and improving our quality of life in Thunder Bay.

Strategic investments in physical and social infrastructure are essential to controlling costs and making Thunder Bay an attractive place to live, work and prosper.

It is critical that we develop a plan to expedite the proper funding the $30 million annual infrastructure deficit; the sooner that we can responsibly eliminate this gap, our assets will be properly maintained and we will lower overall costs and control asset deterioration.

Developing mutually beneficial partnerships with organizations and other levels of government and implementing the Smart Growth Action Plan will be a key factor in moving Thunder Bay forward in an financially responsible and sustainable manner.

Taxation

My priority is to keep property tax increases at inflationary levels of the next term of Council.

Setting budgets that consistently exceed inflation is not a sustainable practice.
