Platform

Policy

My platform is a simple one:  I will make policy decisions that are in the best long-term financial interests of the City with a focus on maintaining our infrastructure and making investments that enhance the quality of life in our community.

I believe it is critical that we deal with the annual estimated $25 million infrastructure deficit; allowing this to continue damages existing infrastructure and increases long term costing.
I also am a strong advocate for renewal and revitalization of both the south core and the north cores to spur on private sector development, increase safety and enhance civic pride.

Investments in our physical and social infrastructure are a must if we are to control costs and make Thunder Bay an attractive place to live and prosper.  Developing mutually beneficial partnerships with organizations and upper levels of government will be a key factor in moving Thunder Bay forward in an financially responsible manner.

Taxation

My position on taxation is that we must keep any increases in line with inflation over the next term of Council.

Setting budgets that consistently exceed inflation is not a sustainable practice.
